The Solo Concert of "Ars Lunga" Piano-Cello Duo, Dedicated to the 98th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, Took Place in Tbilisi PDF Print E-mail

On 19 April, 2013 a solo concert of "Ars Lunga" Piano-Cello duo in memory of Armenian Genocide victims took place in the big hall of the Sheraton Metechi Palace, which was organized by the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church in Georgia and RA Embassy to Georgia, with the support of Ministry of Culture of RA. The representatives of diplomatic corps, political and public figures, senior clerics of sister churches, spiritual servants of Armenian Church, representatives of Armenian community and intellectuals of Tbilisi attended the concert.

“Ars Lunga" Piano-Cello duo since the day of establishment by cellist Aram Talalyan and pianist Julietta Vardanyan has been actively involved in the musical life of Armenia, received invitations from prestigious international music organizations, participated in international competitions and festivals.


Levon Chidilyan, the Coordinator of the “Hayartun” Cultural Center at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church in Georgia, addressed the audience with a request to observe a moment of silence for the victims of the Armenian Genocide. Then the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to Georgia Hovhannes Manoukian spoke in front of the audience, he expressed his gratitude to international organizations and countries that have recognized the Armenian Genocide, and urged to continue the struggle in the international arena for the recognition and condemnation of this crime.

In his speech Chairman of the Union of Armenian Painters of Georgia Merujhan Shahumyan encouraged the audience to continue the fight for the condemnation of the Armenian Genocide.

An atmosphere in the hall corresponded to the solo concert of "Ars Lunga" Piano-Cello duo. The honored artist of Armenia Aram Talalyan and participant of international competitions and festivals pianist Julietta Vardanyan skillfully performed the pieces of Robert Schumann, Sulkhan Tsintsadze, Komitas, Tigran Mansuryan, Aram Khachatryan, Arno Babajanyan, and others.

Finally the Head of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan blessed the audience, he reminisced about the victims of Armenian Genocide, underlining that such concerts in memory are homage to the memory of Armenian Genocide victims. "April 24 - is a factor that unites the Armenians all over the world. A sense of the claim which genetically passed down through generations is a proof of life of the Armenians and half the battle for justice "- the Head of the Diocese added. Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanayan thanked the world famous "Ars Lunga" Piano-Cello duo for taking part in the concert in memory of the victims; he also blessed the organizers, sponsors and participants of the event.

Events dedicated to the 98th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide will continue in the Armenian community in Georgia.
