AThe Feast of St. Sarkis the Captain, his son Mardiros and his 14 soldiers-companions is one 1of the movable feasts of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Holy Church in Georgia. In 2019 it was celebrated on February 16.  By the order of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians the Feast of St. Sarkis the Captain was proclaimed as a day of blessing of young people.
2In accordance with the tradition established in the Armenian community of Tbilisi, the celebration of the Feast of St. Sarkis the Captain begins with a pilgrimage to the chapel which has the named after the Saint. On February 15, on the eve of the feast, t3he large number of faithful gathered in the courtyard of Saint Etchmiadzin church, led by spiritual pastors of Saint George and Saint Etchmiadzin churches, with Saint Sarkis Day's painting, icons and processional banners, singing hymns and psalms went to the ruined church Saint Sarkis the Captain in Kharkhup district.
4The young people prevailed among the large crowd. After praying near the ancient chapel, lightening candles and singing hymns the young people reached the Cathedral of Saint George where there were joined by numerous faithful.5
The Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan presided over Evening Service in the church crowded by many faithful. During the Evening Service, the Diocesan Primate offered the blessing of young people ceremony.
The Feast of Saint Sarkis the Captain is celebrated not only with church ritual and prayers, but also with folk traditions. Staying 6true to the tradition, young people received salty cookies because Saint Sarkis the Captain is a Saint who fulfills dream of love of young people.
On February 16, under the leadership of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, 7festive Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the Cathedral of Saint George. During the Divine Liturgy, the celebrant Rev. Father Manuk Zeynalyan properly preached about the mystery of the day and commented on it.
The Feast of Saint Sarkis the Captain was properly celebrated in the other churches of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia.
After the offering of the blessing of young people on the eve of the feast in Surb Khach (Holy Cross) church in Akhalkalaki, on 8the next day the pilgrims from different villages gathered in Saint Sarkis church in Diliska, where Rev. Father Tigran Mkhitaryan celebrated festive Divine Liturgy with the participation of Surb Khach church’s choir.
The faithful from Akhaltsikhe region, on the eve of the feast, led by horsemen, made 52365617a pilgrimage to Saint Sarkis church in Sazel, where Evening Service was offered and n the next day Rev. Father Torgom Vardanyan celebrated festive Divine Liturgy.
For two days, the festive mood and enthusiasm were prevailed in the church after the Saint, in Ninotsminda. After the blessing of young people ceremony they received salty cookies made by students of the "Rafael Javakh" Center. On the next day, Rev. Father Armash Poghosyan celebrated Divine Liturgy.

The Armenian Diocese in Georgia expresses its gratitude to the Traffic Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia for accompanying the march of faithful with crosses in Tbilisi and ensuring a peaceful course of the march.
