On July 8, 2018, with the blessings of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, a group of youth of the Diocese, led by the Director of the Youth Department Valeri Badalyan left for Motherland to take part in the Divine Liturgy of Oath of the Pan-Armenian Youth Gathering and to receive fatherly blessings of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians. The day was festive. Armenian Apostolic Holy Church celebrates the Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians presided over the Divine Liturgy celebrated at the Saint Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral in Yerevan on the occasion of the feast. Pan-Armenian Youth five-day gathering entitled “Towards the Homeland, Towards Holy Etchmiadzin” was summarized with the Divine Liturgy. The celebrant of the day was His Grace Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, spiritual representative of the World Youth Union of the Armenian Church (WYUAC), Primate of the U.S. Western Diocese of the Armenian Church. About four hundred participants of the gathering and numerous young people representing different diocesan structures around the world arrived on this occasion, among them Armenian youth from Tbilisi and Samtskhe – Javakheti attended the holy ceremony. In front of the Mother Cathedral Bell-tower they greeted His Holiness. Under the ringing of the bells the clergy procession, led by His Holiness, moved towards the temple. At the end of the sermon, the youth read their pilgrimage vow. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, under the presidency of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians Youth Blessing service took place. Afterwards, His Holiness conveyed his message to the youth, urged them always to read the pray enlightened with the holy mystery of transfiguration. His Holiness encouraged the Armenian youth to keep brighten Armenian Holy Church in their minds and empower our Motherland with God-pleasing deeds. Armenian youth from Georgia had a meeting with the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan and received the blessings and best wishes of Diocesan Primate. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, the young people took part in the folk celebration of Vardavar in the courtyard of Saint Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral in Yerevan. The pilgrimage of the Armenian youth from Georgia to Motherland ended with visits to Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex and Matenadaran (Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts). The young people return to Georgia with holy light of the day, bringing with them the message of living with Motherland and Holy Etchmiadzin in their souls.
