Celebration of the Victory in the Second World War and Liberation of Shushi at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia PDF Print E-mail

IMG 1756On May 9, 2018, at the Calouste Gulbenkian Hall of the “Hayartun” Center a festive event dedicated to the Victory in the Second World War and Liberation of Shushi took place.
The Hall was crowded with people. The festive mood was prevailed in the hall. The occasion to celebrate the event, pay tribute to the memory of the heroes of the Liberation of Shushi and veterans of Second World War again gathered together the members of the Armenian community of Tbilisi and public figures.
In the hall, places for the honorable guests were taken by Stanislav Manukyan and Arthur Beglaryan, the participants of the Artsakh War from Georgia, the daughterIMG 1714 of sister of Commander of the combat operation “Wedding in the Mountains” of the liberation of Shushi, Major General of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia Arkadi Ter – Tadevosyan.
The event was honored with the presence of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Georgia Ruben Sadoyan, accompanied by the Embassy staff.
And the national anthem of the Republic of Armenia sounded.
IMG 1879The event was opened by the Director of the Cultural Department of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia and the head of the “Hayartun” Center Levon Chidilyan. The latter congratulated the attendees on the occasion of the May victories, the beginning of which was the triumphant end of the Second World War, he valued Shushi’s great victory, highlighted the victory of the nationwide movement of love and cooperation in recent days in Armenia and concluded his speech with the expectation of the 100th anniversary celebration of the First Republic of Armenia. The Director of the Cultural Department of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia conveyed to the attendees the congratulatory message of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan. He also conveyed Primate's encouragement to continue the progress with the victories for the prosperity of the Motherland, for the sake of free and independent Artsakh, for the sake of prosperous and peaceful life of the Armenian people.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Georgia Ruben Sadoyan delivered a congratulatory message on the occasion of the May IMG 1803victories. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary touched upon the participation of Armenia and the Armenian people in the Second World War, paid tribute to the memory of the Shushi Liberation heroes, and wished new victories to the Armenian nation.
Colonel Samvel Ramazyan, the Defense attaché of the Republic of Armenia to Georgia, recorded heroic brave feats of the freedom-loving sons of the Armenian people in the Second World War, spoke in detail about pages of the Artsakh War, valuing the glorious victory of Shushi Liberation. Liberation of Shushi was self-consciousness of the nation’s survival, the steadfast will to win, which was formed during the fight, the very aim of liberating the Homeland.  The Colonel ended his speech with the call to love the Motherland, maintain the native language, remain an Armenian and keep our values always and everywhere.IMG 1828
During the event the episodes from documentary films were shown, dedicated to the heroic deeds of Armenians during the Great Patriotic War, Artsakh heroic battles and Liberation of Shushi.
The performances of the national patriotic songs dedicated to Armenia, Armenian Army and the Armenian people by soloists Nina Karapetyan, Ani Hovhannisyan, Ruzanna Mikaelyants, Donara Arsenyan, Sergey Nazarov and Henrikh Petrosyan, the actor of Tbilisi State Drama Theatre after Petros Adamyan; made the May 9 truly festive and victorious day for the Armenians of Tbilisi.
