Commemoration Day of Saint George in the village of Poqr Pamach PDF Print E-mail

A1On May 6, 2018, since early morning a festive mood prevailed in the Saint George Chapel in the village of Poqr 1Pamach of the Akhaltsikhe region (the Samtskhe – Javakheti and Tsalka's General Prelacy of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia). The local residents, guests arrived from different places visited the Saint George Chapel to take part in the festive event dedicated to the Commemoration of Saint George.
The event began with the Divine Liturgy celebrated by Rev. Father Torgom Vardanyan, Pastor of Akhaltsikhe and nearby regions. During 2the Divine Liturgy, the celebrant properly preached about the mystery of the day.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, Rev. Father Hakob Sahakyan, Spiritual superintendant of Akhaltsikhe and Rev. Father Torgom Vardanyan congratulated the faithful in attendance on the occasion of the feast. The Spiritual Superintendence of Akhaltsikhe had prepared a concert program. Before the start of the concert program, 3Spiritual Superintendence blessed the Matagh (Thanksgiving Animal Sacrifice) which was distributed to the faithful.
The cheerful mood of the day and hospitality were accompanied by joyful songs and dances performed by “Akhaltsikhe” Ensemble of Song and Dance, as well as artistic groups of the Akhaltsikhe’s N3 secondary Armenian school and Armenian Youth, Educational and Cultural Center. The organizers of the event dedicated to Saint George had prepared a pleasant surprise for the participants. At the end of the event, on behalf of benefactors the Spiritual Superintendence gave prizes to the above mentioned participants: 100 Georgian lari for each participant.
The participants of the event and attendees returned their homes with great festive mood.
