Commemorative ceremonies dedicated to the Holy Martyrs of the Armenian Genocide were held in the village of Ghushchi (Tsalka region) populated by Armenians. On April 24, 2018, the Saint Gevorg church in Ghushchi (Armenian Diocese in Georgia) was crowded with the local faithful and people from nearby villages, populated by Armenians. They came to lit candles and pray for the peace of souls of the 1.5 million canonized martyrs of the Armenian Genocide, asking for their intercession. Rev. Father Kirakos Simonyan, spiritual superintendant of the “House of Hovhannes Tumanyan” Center of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia; offered a sermon in the crowded church, commented on the mystery of the day, touched upon the mission of the Armenian people to honor the memory of the canonized martyrs of the Armenian Genocide. Afterwards, under the leadership of the spiritual father, Intercessional Prayer was raised to God in commemoration of the Holy Martyrs. Teachers, students, their parents and numerous faithful arrived from the villages of the Tsalka region and were present at Intercessional Prayer. The faithful, led by the spiritual father, moved to the memorial to the victims of the war, where commemoration ceremony dedicated to the innocent martyrs was held with the participation of schoolchildren. The attendees laid flowers at the memorial.
