On April 9, 2018, the clergy and officials of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, as well as the faithful laid flowers at the cross – stone, erected by the Armenian people (near the Saint Etchmiadzin church in Tbilisi) to the victims of April 9 tragedy in 1989, in Tbilisi. Under the leadership of Rev. Father Virap Ghazaryan and Rev. Father Manuk Zeynalyan, clergymen of the Saint Etchmiadzin church of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, the Requiem Service was offered for the peace of souls of participants of the peaceful demonstration for Georgia's independence. The clergymen prayed for the peace of souls of 21 innocent people died for independence and restoration of statehood of Georgia. Afterwards, officials of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia and clergyman Rev. Father Kirakos Simonyan visited the place of the tragedy which took place 29 years ago and laid a wreath at the Memorial to the Victims of April 9 Tragedy in front of the Parliament Building, on Rustaveli Avenue.
