Three-day visit of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia to Samtskhe – Javakheti PDF Print E-mail

1On April 6, 2018, the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, within the framework of a three-day visit to Samtskhe – Javakheti, attended the Surb Khach (the Holy Cross) church in the village of Damala of Aspindza region. Rev. Father Eghia Tazayan and the village head welcomed the Diocesan Primate in the Surb Khach church, which was built in the 19th century. The Diocesan Primate discussed with pastor and village head issues related to the Divine3 Liturgy, which will be solemnly celebrated on April 29, on the occasion of the Feast of the Apparition of the Holy Cross. His Grace gave important instructions to the pastor to carry out effective activity of the church.
On the same day, Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan visited the Saint Gevorg church (was built in the first half of the 19th century) and participated in the event, dedicated to the Feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, performed by the students of “Khrimyan Hayrik” preschool. He conveyed his blessings to pastor Rev. Father Tadeos Ter – Mkrtchyan, director of the preschool, deaconess Narine Ter – Mkrtchyan and other teachers for mamzara22their good work.
On the next day, on April 7, the Diocesan Primate celebrated the Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the Feast of the Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary, in Saint Mesrop Mashtots church (was built in 2013)  in the village of Mamzara, in Ninotsminda region. On the occasion of the festive Divine Liturgy, the church and church courtyard were full of the faithful. phoqr ganduraOn the same day, accompanied by Rev. Father Armash Poghosyan, pastor of Ninotsminda region and Rev. Father Tatev Marukyan, pastor of Akhalkalaki and nearby villages, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan visited the Saint Gevorg church (Saint Ghevondyats, was built in the middle of the 19th century) in the village of Poqr Gonduragyugh of the region. Pastors, together with His Grace prayed, sang hymns and psalms, spiritual melodies in the Saint Ghevondyats temple.
The Diocesan Primate gave instructions to those responsible for construction and mec gondura 3reconstruction to continue the works in accordance with the church rules.
The Diocesan Primate, accompanied by the pastor, attended the Saint Hakob church (was built in the first half of 19th century) in Mets Dilif 1Gondura, thoroughly studied already done renovation works in the church and noted with regret, that the restoration was done with shortcomings and not completely. His Grace told the pastor and those who are responsible to contact the benefactors and complete the renovation of the temple in accordance with church rules and prepare it to re – consecration. After praying and singing psalms in the Saint Hakob church in Mets Gondura, the Diocesan Primate visited the Saint Vardan  church (was built in the second half of the 19th century) in the village of Dilif. The villagers greeted His Grace with great enthusiasm. The village head and builders presented in detail the process of the 8Dilif 2renovation of the church and received advices and instructions from His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan. His Grace highly appreciated conscientious work of villagers, benefactors, builders, blessed their purposeful and consistent deeds, which were done with great fervor and enthusiasm. Spiritual fathers prayed in the Saint Vardan church, sang hymns and psalms and blessed local residents.
The Diocesan Primate paid the next visit to the “Rafael Javakh” Educational, Cultural and Youth Center in Ninotsminda. In the Center His Grace took part in the cultural event, organized by the directorate and teachers of the Center and dedicated to the Feast of the Assumption of Mary and the Day of Motherhood.Kuikam
9His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan conveyed his blessings to the students, their parents and teachers. He congratulated them and gave flowers to mothers and teachers of the students, who were present at the event.
The Diocesan Primate highly appreciated the devoted work of Rev. Father Armash Poghosyan, he also expressed his paternal gratitude to Zhora Snkhchyan for a large – scale cultural activity in the region.
It the evening, His Grace attended the Surb Yerrordutyun (the Holy Trinity) church (was built in the first half of the 19th century) in the village of Kulikam of Akhalkalaki region. Rev. Father Tatev Marukyan presented the processes of construction and reconstruction works carried out in the Goman 210church. Diocesan Primate assessed the work already done and instructed to eliminate shortcomings in a short time and prepare the temple to re – consecration until the end of the year.
Afterwards, Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan visited the village of Goman, where the villagers, led by pastor Rev. Father Tadeos Ter – Mkrtchyan, welcomed His Grace in the center of the village. The purpose of the visit of the Primate was consultation with locals about the church, which will be built in the village, as well as choosing appropriate places for kindergarten and recreation area. As a result of the discussions, the place of the former school was chosen for church and kindergarten. It was decided to apply to the Georgian authorities for acquisition of the land and implementation of 11large – scale investments projects there. At the end of the meeting, His Grace briefly told people about the history of the Diocese, its glorious past, huge damage caused to the Diocese during the Soviet era, activity and mission of the spiritual organization. The Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, 12accompanied by clergymen, returned to Akhalkalaki at night.
On April 8, the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan celebrated the Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the Feast of the New Sunday or Octave of Easter (eight days after Easter) in the Surb Khach (the Holy Cross) church in Akhalkalaki. During the Divine Liturgy, the Primate addressed his message and blessings to the faithful. The celebrant Primate properly preached about the mystery of the feast.
In the evening, the Diocesan Primate left for Motherland to take part in the inauguration ceremony of the newly – elected President of the Republic of Armenia Armen Sargsyan on April 9.
