March 21 is the international day of Puppeteers. On 20 March, 2018, on the eve of this day, the puppet theater of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia opened the doors of the “House of Hovhannes Tumanyan” in front of the children and invited them to meet with newly opened puppet theater's staff and watch puppet shows. The students from the sixth grade of the of N104 public school in Tbilisi, their teachers and parents were among the guests of the puppet theater. Gisane Hovsepyan, the head of the “House of Hovhannes Tumanyan” Scientific and Cultural Center welcomed the students. The latter told them about the life of the Great Poet from Lori in his apartment in Tbilisi. She highly valued the breath and spirit which was soaring in this family for years and inspires the All-Armenian Poet to write his immortal works, including the fairy tales and stories, quatrain and poems so beloved by children. Rev. Father Kirakos Simonyan, the spiritual superintendant of the “House of Hovhannes Tumanyan” Scientific and Cultural Center of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, called attended students lucky generation which has an opportunity to walk in the house were Hovhannes Tumanyan lived, to visit “Khojavank” Pantheon at the occasion of his birthday and lay flowers at the tomb of the great Armenian poet and at the tombs of other great figures beside him as well as to remember and be proud of being in the “House of Hovhannes Tumanyan” and watching puppet shows based on his fairy tales. The children watched puppet show based on Hovhannes Tumanyan's work “The Dog and the Cat” by performance of puppeteer Armen Hovhannisyan. But it was not just a puppet show that made the children happy. By the initiative of the puppeteer Armen Hovhannisyan, actors Edita Zohrabyan, Ashot Simonyan and Aren Mkrtchyan the children were included in an interesting game called “Vernakchuch” (The Crock). There were puppets with the image of Tumanyan's fairy tale heroes in the crock made by puppeteer. The children were divided into two teams and showed how well they know fairy tales. The game brought great enthusiasm among the children and created a joyful mood. This is how the World Puppetry day was celebrated in the Armenian Diocese in Georgia. |
