Newly-Appointed Priest Celebrated His First Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia PDF Print E-mail

A1On February 14, 2018, the Holly Mass for the Feast of the Lord’s Presentation to the Temple (Tiarn’ndaraj) was celebrated in all the operating churches of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, during which the curtains remained open.

Newly-ordained Rev. Father Kirakos Simonyan, under the leadership of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan; celebrated Divine Liturgy in the Saint Gevorg Cathedral in Tbilisi.1

During the Divine Liturgy, the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia introduced Rev. Father Kirakos Simonyan, who has been appointed to serve in the Armenian Diocese in Georgia by His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians. Bishop Vazgen expressed his gratitude to the Supreme Patriarch, who taking into consideration that the Armenian Diocese in Georgia has a shortage of clergymen, in response to the request of the Diocesan Primate, has appointed newly-ordained Rev. Fr. Kirakos Simonyan to serve in the Armenian Diocese of Georgia.

The Diocesan Primate presented Father Kirakos’s brief biography, on behalf of the clergy and the faithful welcomed the newly-appointed priest and wished him productive 2service.

In his sermon, Father Kirakos expressed his words of gratitude to His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; and the Diocesan Primate for giving him an opportunity to serve in Tbilisi. In his first homily, Father Kirakos preached about the mystery of the day, he presented the image of an old man named Simeon, to whom it had been revealed that he should not see death before he had seen the Lord. At the conclusion of his sermon, the celebrant congratulated the attendees on the occasion of the feast and wished world peace.

Newly-appointed Rev. Father Kirakos Simonyan, by the order of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, was appointed to serve as an Assistant Pastor at the Cathedral of Saint George in Tbilisi, as well as the spiritual superintendant of the “House of Hovhannes Tumanyan” Center for Science and Culture.
