On January 5, 2018, the Eve of the Holy Nativity and Theophany of Jesus Christ, a candlelight Divine Liturgy was celebrated in all the operating churches of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia.2

The Armenian churches in Tbilisi, Batumi and Javakheti were crowded; the faithful came to reflect on the wonderment of the Holy Nativity and Theophany of Jesus Christ.

3The Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan celebrated a candlelight Divine Liturgy in St. Gregory the Illuminator Church in Akhaltsikhe (Samtskhe-Javakheti and Tsalka's General Prelacy of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia).4

Before the Divine Liturgy, an Evening Service was held and different Bible passages were read.

6During the Divine Liturgy, the Bishop in his homily referred to the mystery of the Nativity and Theophany of our Savior.

The Primate exhorted the faithful to ask Almighty God to make the light of His wisdom shine in their minds, hearts and lives, so that their souls would transform into the 7manager of Bethlehem, where the Light can shine and Love can dwell, glorifying in their life and faith.

5Following the Divine Liturgy, the Primate lit the life-giving candle. Following the conclusion of the Liturgy, the assembled faithful took lit candles and lamps home symbolizing the divine light and the blessing of the Church.
