Primate of Armenian Diocese in Georgia Visits Samtskhe-Javakheti PDF Print E-mail

aOn October 25, 2017, Akhalkalaki office of Samtskhe-Javakheti and Tsalka's General Prelacy of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia hosted a joint session of the clergy and officials. The Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan moderated the session.

Following the Lord's Prayer, the Primate gave opening remarks and presented the agenda for the day, which consisted of two main issues:

    expected changes in Prelacy structure and staff;

    activities of the clergy and officials serving in Samtskhe-Javakheti and Tsalka, according to these amendments;

The Primate transmitted paternal love of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians to the meeting participants, and noted that His Holiness had always kept his focus on the activities of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, particularly of Samtskhe-Javakheti and Tsalka's General Prelacy, shown his compassion and concern. The Bishop presented a new structure for managing the diocese, coordinated activities of educational, cultural and youth centers adjunct to the spiritual pastorates and the diocesan headquarters, as well as the issues related to enhancing cooperation between the centers. He exhorted to organize events in the church courtyards on the occasion of the religious and national holidays and encourage broad public participation.

The Diocesan Primate attached importance to solemn observance of religious ceremonies, including canonical services, Divine Liturgies and church rites. The Primate gave assignments to the officials of 22906570the educational, cultural and youth centers to jointly organize various events.

The Bishop informed the clergy and officials of the prelacy that due to anticipated changes in Prelacy structure and new appointment, Very Rev. Fr. Babken Salbiyan, the Prelate of Samtskhe-Javakheti and Tsalka's General Prelacy of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia; was released from his responsibilities. The Primate appreciated Father Babken for his 16 years of service for the Prelacy and voiced hope that at the new place, with experience accumulated in Javakheti, Very Rev. Father Babken would continue his tireless service, for the benefit of the Armenian Church and the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

At the conclusion of the session, Very Rev. Father Babken Salbiyan expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Diocesan Primate, the clergy and officials for many years of joint tireless service, and as a member of the Brotherhood of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, assured that he would continue his spiritual service with the same zeal and commitment at the new place.
