On June 27, 2017, the Calouste Gulbenkian Hall of the Hayartun Center at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia hosted the morning performance of the "St. Movses Khorenatsi" Preschool graduating students of the 2016/2017 academic year. In attendance were the clergy of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, representatives of the RA Embassy in Georgia, parents, teachers, former graduates. The occasion was honored with the presence of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan and visiting Tbilisi Vicarious of Patriarchal Legate in Scandinavia, Very Rev. Father Yegishe Avetisyan. The hall had been festively decorated for the occasion. The morning performance was opened with the Lord’s Prayer and the blessings received from the Diocesan Primate. The Director of the Educational Department of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia and Preschool Director, Eugenia Markosyan, gave opening remarks. She expressed gratitude to the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia for keeping the kindergarten under his constant guidance and his unwavering support. She mentioned that eleven out of seventeen kindergarten students would attend Armenian schools in Tbilisi. The kindergarten students gave a special performance. Senior group students had truly grown up. Junior group students delivered farewell wishes. The children, who speak Armenian fluently, expressed their love for the Armenian Church, the mother language and the Motherland. During the performance full of beautiful recitation, joyful songs and graceful dance, students showed everything they learnt from teachers Eugenia Markosyan, Oksana Sharoyan, Metaksia Ghazaryan, Maria Abulyan, Ivane Mkrtchyan. It demonstrated the undertaken work, which promotes the child’s Armenian upbringing and is the road to life with national mindset. The children received congratulations from the Armenian Embassy’s cultural attaché Elina Mkrtchyan; the Director of the Hayartun Center, Levon Chidilyan. Father Yeghishe, who had arrived from Sweden, expressed his admiration and announced his decision to create a similar institution in his community. The Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan gave a concluding speech. The Primate highlighted that to preserve the mother language and the Armenian spirit outside Armenia was a daily struggle, positive results of which were presented in Tbilisi, Batumi and other places inhabited by Armenians. The Diocesan Primate stressed that the preschool was a cultural environment, where together with basic knowledge, through songs, dances and different games, children learnt about their own culture, learnt their mother language. The Diocesan Primate Expressed his gratitude to the parents, who highlighting Armenian upbringing of their children, had brought their children to the kindergarten. At the conclusion of the event, the students received graduation certificates, kindergarten vignette and blessings from the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia and Father Yeghishe. The students extended warm greetings to benefactor Boris Saakov from Novosibirsk, who was watching the entire event via Skype’s online video conferencing. The "St. Movses Khorenatsi" Preschool of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia has 6-year history. The day at the preschool begins with the Matin and blessings of the priests, religious meetings with Deacon Gevork Antonyan, lessons and fun activities with teachers. The students receive general knowledge and spiritual education, are taught basic arithmetic, literacy in Armenian. With the support of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, St. Movses Khorenatsi Primary School in Tbilisi provides children extra instructional time and offers children one additional meal during the day. |
