Juniors of Taron Dance Group of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia Received a Gold Medal PDF Print E-mail

On June 17, 2017, the Judo Academy named after Sh. Chochishvili, Tbilisi, hosted the Georgian International Dance Festival and Roman Archaia Challenge Cup. The festival marked the 20th anniversary of the competition. Georgian National Council of Dance and Sport Dance and Tbilisi Centre of Cultural Events organized the event. Many dance groups representing different nationalities participated in the festival.

Abkhazian, Ossetian, gypsy, Spanish, Latin, Indian, Moldavian and other national dances of Georgia’s ethnic minorities were performed.

The Taron Dance Group of the Hayartun Center (Director: Levon Chidilyan) at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia participates in the festival for the second time. By the decision of Choreographer Suren Abramyan, the juniors of the Taron Dance Group performed at the festival two traditional Armenian dances “Karno Kochari” and “Shavali –khosh bilazik”. Dance group made up of 22 teenagers (ages 7-12) professionally performed proud and passionate dances, instantly captured the audience’s attention and earned a thunderous applause.

The dance group formed just one and a half years ago competed with the “Fantasy”, “Indra Dance-Forum” and “Indian Bollywood” dance groups. The jury was unanimous in their decision. The juniors of the Taron Dance Group were awarded the Gold Medal, placed first and received Certificate of Participation. The success of the junior group is the guarantee of future results.
