Armenian Diocese’s Staff Annual General Meeting PDF Print E-mail

On December 26, 2016, the Calouste Gulbenkian Hall of the Hayartun Center at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia hosted an annual general meeting of the Diocesan Headquarters’ employees, departments and the Hayartun Cultural Educational and Youth Center.

His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, presided over the meeting. In attendance were the clergy and the Diocesan Headquarters departments’ staff.

The meeting began with the Lord’s Prayer and blessings from the Primate. The agenda focused on two issues:

    Summary of the diocesan activities in 2016;

    Vision for the coming year (2017).

The Diocesan Primate stressed that Armenian Church every morning opens its doors to Armenian faithful, through the power of prayer and inspiring hope supports and encourages every member of the flock.

The Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia assessed the service of the clergyman, the work of the staff and the Hayartun Center. Referring to the activities of the departments, the Bishop offered his appreciation to the achievements that had been made through diligent and devoted work, however revealed noticeable shortcomings and the ways to overcome them by giving private lessons at the preschool and Sunday School. Highlighting the success of the creative groups, the Primate stressed the importance of future development.

Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan shared his vision of the coming year (2017). The Primate discussed in detail the renovation of the house of Hovhannes Tumanyan in Tbilisi, the “Tumanyan Vernatun of Culture and Art”, reference was made to ongoing construction work and the completion date, and prospects for expanding Center’s activity.

The Bishop spoke about the resumption of construction work in the courtyard of the Cathedral of Saint George and the projects, which will be implemented through the support and in cooperation with the "Initiatives for Armenia's Development Foundation” (IDeA). There was an emphasis on importance to expand activities in the social department. The clergymen would visit the places of confinement and hospital on regular basis, will provide social support and financial aid. The Primate appreciated the financial support provided by the Georgian authorities, as well as imbued with Christian love friendship and cooperation of Armenian Apostolic and Georgian Orthodox Churches.

The general meeting was closed with New Year and Christmas wishes to the Armenian Diocese in Georgia. New Year presents were distributed to the participants of the meeting.
