On December 24, 2016, the Hayartun Center at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia hosted a semi-annual reporting concert of the center’s creative groups. The concert program featured those musical numbers, which the groups had mastered over the past few months, and demonstrated their achievements.

The Calouste Gulbenkian Hall was crowded. The concert was attended by the clergy of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, employees of the Diocesan Headquarters, guests and parents. The event started by the Lord’s Prayer and by blessing from the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia.

The solo and group performances followed one another. Levon Chidilyan (Head of Hayartun Center and Director of the Cultural Department of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia) served as master of ceremonies.

Besides the basic groups, the concert featured the members of the junior groups of the dance ensemble, dhol and duduk classes, the solo performers of the vocal ensemble Ani Mirzoyan and Vladimir Arutyunyan. It was their first public performance.

The event with artistic performances and emotional rendition of the creative groups was the vivid evidence of the Hayartun Center’s success. To enthusiastic applause duduk and dhol classes delivered enchanting performance, senior and junior dance groups danced their hearts out, the choir sang folk and modern songs in perfect unison, vocal-Instrumental Ensemble offered a fascinating performance, Ani Torosyan, Ruzanna Mikaelyan, Ani Hovhannisyan gave a solo performance of the songs, imbued with patriotism and love for their people, getting warm reception from the audience.

As a result of the students’ hard work, the efforts of the tutors and moving of the groups in the right direction, the Center’s students have improved their performance skills substantially. The performance of compositions, especially “Mush-mush” song, showed wonderful progress.

The concert concluded with “Artsakh” composition, which was the highlight of the show. It was presented in perfect harmony by the St. Nerses Shorhali Youth Vocal Ensemble, duduk and dhol classes, Taron Dance Group, Hayos Band Vocal-Instrumental Ensemble.

Very Rev. Father Khoren Hovhannisyan, assistant to the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia; offered his appreciation. Highly estimating the skill and virtuosity of the performers, Father Khoren expressed his gratitude to the parents of the students, who realizing the importance of the Armenian upbringing of their children, send them to the Hayartun Center.

The Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan conveyed his blessings and remarks to the attendees. The Diocesan Primate thanked the Cultural Department Head, Levon Chidilyan, for keeping the Armenian spirit of the Center alive, moving the work of the Hayartun Center in the right direction, and congratulated him on receiving the ''Garegin Nzhdeh'' Medal of the RA Ministry of Defense. The Diocesan Primate highly estimated the work of choirmaster Maria Abulyan and Karen Mirzoyan, piano accompanist, of Saint Nerses Shnorhali Children’s Choir, Taron Dance Group choreographer Suren Abramyan, duduk and dhol tutors Ivane Mkrtchyan and Robert Kashavanidze, Hayos Band Vocal-Instrumental Ensemble Artistic Director, Vladimir Asaturov, who instill a love of Armenian culture in students, move the creative groups in the right direction. The Bishop thanked the Educational Department Director, Eugenia Markosyan, sound producer Sergey Arutyunyan respectively, for their dedication to Armenian upbringing of a new generation. Congratulating the people present on the upcoming New Year, the Primate invited everyone to participate in the Liturgies on the occasion of the Feast of the Holy Nativity and Theophany of Our Lord Jesus Christ and properly celebrate Christmas.
