On November 19, 2016, the Calouste Gulbenkian Hall of the “Hayartun” Center of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia hosted a meeting with Denise Davidson – Head of UWC Dilijan College; Elena Sheroziya – Head of Admissions, UWC Dilijan College; and a member of admission staff, Daria Brodnikovskaya.

The hall was crowded. In attendance were high school students from different ethnic backgrounds and their parents. The attendees took keen interest in the college activities, teaching methods, directions, the selection process to UWC, achievements and looks to the future.

Denise Davidson, the Head of UWC Dilijan College, discussed in detail the United World College Dilijan activities, which is home to almost 200 students from 72 countries, including from Armenia and Georgia. The Head of UWC Dilijan College emphasized that the students at UWC Dilijan study the two-year International Baccalaureate (IB) pre-university course, which is taught in English.

Elena Sheroziya, the Head of Admissions, added that UWC (United World Colleges) is a globally recognized education system, founded in 1962, comprising 17 schools and colleges, and there are currently sixteen students from Georgia studying at ten different United World Colleges.

The college throws its doors open for high-school students age 16 or 17. A high school student can enter the college, after demonstrating relevant knowledge and overcoming competition consisting of three stages. In her remarks, the member of admission staff, Daria Brodnikovskaya, stressing the necessity of global education, spoke about the selection process to UWC and college tuition fee concessions for students from low-income families.

Later the representatives of the school held a question and answer session. Questions were asked on admission process, continuing studies, graduation from public high school, medical assistance, military service deferment etc.

The meeting was held in a lively and interesting atmosphere.
