On October 9, 2016, the Calouste Gulbenkian hall of the Hayartun Center at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia hosted the opening of the painting and graphics exhibition of Martiros Yelagyan, a member of Artists’s Union of Armenia.

Visitors viewed closely the unusual works of art created by the talented painter: portrait paintings showing different situations and mood states, graphic works vividly reproducing the fauna. It is precisely these 30 paintings that were bright examples of rich palette of the ingenious artist.

Head of the Cultural Department in the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, Levon Chidilyan gave opening remarks and introduced Martiros Yelagyan to the people present. His parents were born and bred in Tbilisi and instilled love and respect for this picturesque city in their son, inspired him to learn from prominent Armenian artists of Tbilisi.

The artist has exhibited widely with solo exhibitions and group shows. Simplicity, visibility and professionalism are personal creed of his works of art. The works of talented artist, imbued with such approach and vision, are kept in many private collections in Armenia, Russia, the USA, Switzerland, China and are on permanent display at the Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Artsakh. Martin Yelagyan is one of the painters included in the book “Art of Our Contemporaries” by Armen Satyan, published in 2008.

Miniature painter Meruzhan Shahumyan; Irena Ohanjanova, the President of the Union of Armenian Painters of Georgia; the Chairman of the Union of Armenian Intellectuals of Georgia, Yenok Tadevosyan; Levon Osipov, a member of the Artits’ Union of the USSR; and others made congratulatory remarks, highly estimating multiple genres of his works, his skill to draw with colors and pencil the real and imaginary worlds.

Martiros Yelagyan expressed his gratitude to the Hayartun Center for providing him the opportunity to display his works. He called this exposition the call of his soul. His dream was to present his works of art to art lovers of the culturally rich city of Tbilisi. And this dream came true.

The exhibition by Martiros Yelagyan in the Hayartun Center in Tbilisi will be open through October 17.
