Former High-Ranking Georgian Official Visited the Headquarters of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia PDF Print E-mail

On October 6, 2016, a famous Georgian politician and public figure, well-known representative of intelligentsia, Victoria Siradze visited the Diocesan Headquarters at the Cathedral of Saint George in Tbilisi. The former high-ranking party official was accompanied by the Editor of the “Vrastan” Newsletter (“Georgia”) Van Baiburtyan; and an active public figure, Artem Kirakozov.

Mrs. Siradze handed over a book about a famous former state official, public figure and politician, Grigory Harutyunyan (Arutyunov) by Nami Mikoyan to the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan.

During the meeting, Mrs. Siradze spoke in detail about the life and work of the Head of the Department of Party Organizational Work of the Georgian Communist Party Central Committee; the First Secretary of the city committee of Tiflis of the Georgian Communist Party; and later the First Secretary of the Communist Party Armenian SSR, Grigory Harutyunyan; told about his family, to whom she was particularly close.

The high-ranking official of the Georgian Communist Party also told about His Holiness Vazgen I Catholicos of All Armenians, of blessed memory. Mrs. Siradze gladly shared her memories of those meetings she had had with the Catholicos of All Armenians.

During the conversation, Mrs. Siradze reflected on her friendly relations with the Armenian public figures during the period of the Soviet Union.

The Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia thanked Mrs. Victoria Siradze for visiting the Diocesan Headquarters, and appreciated publishing the book about the politician and public figure of Armenian descent.

The Bishop considered the visit of such a person of a venerable age to the Diocesan Headquarters to be a great honor and suggested organizing her meeting with the Armenian community in the future.
