The Hayartun Centre Hosted an Exhibition of Bas Relief Oil Paintings PDF Print E-mail

On June 11, 2016, the Calouste Gulbenkian Hall of the Hayartun Center at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia was turned into a marvelous public garden full of flowers, where 35 splendid paintings of Susana Mkrtchyan, Honored Worker of Culture of Armenian Republic, professor and artist, were on display. The artist presented Armenians of Tbilisi and lovers of art her bas relief oil paintings, basically series of paintings entitled “Flowers”.

Poppies, forget-me-nots, chrysanthemums, chamomiles, still life paintings depicted the light of the soul and warmth of the heart of the artist, her boundless desire to make the world a more beautiful place, which was transferred from the artworks to the spectators and lovers of art. These spectators were Tbilisi Armenian intellectuals – painters and workers of art, the appreciators of art and experts, who took great interest and became acquainted with the works of the famous painter.

Meruzhan Shahumyan, the President of the Union of Armenian Painters in Georgia, gave opening remarks and spoke about the profoundly gifted artist, highlighted a reach palette of her works, her natural talent to create beauty.

Susana Mkrtchyan creates paintings of different styles. She can work simultaneously in different genres: oil painting, graphic work, silk painting, paper collage etc. Artist and sculptor Levon Osipov, artist Irena Ohanjanova, spectator Susana Khachaturyan, referring to displayed artworks, shared their thoughts and emphasized the artist’s rich imagination, great artistic skills and talent to show the ordinary things.

Profoundly gifted artist, Susana Mkrtchyan, whose paintings have been exhibited in 36 countries, had had a strong wish to present her compatriots in Georgia a small part of her creative work. The exhibition, organized with deep love and sense of responsibility, was attended by the artist’s family members, who expressed hope for future meetings with appreciators of art in Tbilisi. Mrs. Susana extended words of appreciation to the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, the Hayartun Educational Cultural Youth Center for a warm reception, and presented the Director of the Hayartun Center, Levon Chidilyan, with “Jajuretsi Minas” album by Henrikh Igityan.

His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, made closing remarks and offered his blessings. The Primate highlighted the cultural ideology, which is so important to a country’s, a city’s and a region’s development, and expressed his appreciation to the profoundly gifted painter for her highly artistic works, as well as her great organizational skills, through which the Gyumri branch of the National Center of Aesthetics was founded and operates today, developing aesthetic awareness in children.

Susana Mkrtchyan blends sculptures and oil paintings to create her artworks. These beautiful paintings are the result of accurate, fundamentally complex and laborious process.
