An Evening with Nik Akopov at the Hayartun Center of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia PDF Print E-mail

Nik Akopov 

On December 12, 2015, movie and poetry enthusiasts were gathered together in the Galouste Gyulbenkyan Hall of the Hayartun Center at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia. The clergy of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia presided by the Primate, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, the Headquarters’ of the Armenian Diocese and the Hayartun Center’s staff, Armenian, Russian and Georgian intellectuals were in attendance of the event.

Another event of the Hayartun Center at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia was dedicated to Nik Akopov, a talented young man, and revealed his varied interests. Nik presented to the audience his poems and movies.

Being proficient in Russian and Georgian, Nik expressed his love of Georgia and Armenia, Artsakh and Stepanakert, Tbilisi and Yerevan in many poems. His touching poems are a dedication, the voice of the heart, laudation, the call to eradicate the dark sides of life, inspiration to do good.

Nik Akopov, being interested in the fate of Armenian people and the Armenian cultural footprints, highly appreciated the late Sargis Darchinyan’s work, a distinguished researcher and expert on the Armenian historical monuments of Georgia, and expressed his gratitude by directing a documentary in memory of the archivist. His directing talents were also exhibited in the film “The Lost Life, Lost Happiness”, dedicated to one of the main challenges facing the youth.

The Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan in his closing speech reflected upon Nik Akopov’s call to confront the challenges of life, which is also a manifestation of great love. The Bishop highly appreciated Nik Akopov’s work and directing talents, and gave him advice to follow his passion.

The screening of two films took place during the event.

The people present were impressed by Nik Akopov’s poetry and listened to his poems with pleasure.
