Presentation for the Next Issue of Haigazian Armenological Review at the Hayartun Center PDF Print E-mail

On November 8, 2015, the Director of the Armenian Diaspora Research Center of the Haigazian University (Beirut, Lebanon) Andranik Tagesian in the company of Tatul Hakobyan, the coordinator of activities of the ANI Armenian Research Center, visited the Hayartun Center at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia. The Armenologist from Beirut launched the recently published 35th issue of the Haigazian Armenological Review, consisting of 950 pages. The volume was presented to the Armenian community of Tbilisi.

In her welcoming speech, Susana Khachaturyan, the Director of Press and Media Department at the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, introduced honorable guests to the people present in the Calouste Gulbenkian Hall. The Director of Press and Media Department underlined the fact that Haigazian University is the only university with an Armenian identity in the entire Armenian Diaspora and added that Haigazian is home campus to students from many countries throughout the world (Armenian students make up 51 percent of the total), the university diploma is widely recognized by colleges and universities around the world, which proves the exceptional quality and standard of education.

The Director of the Armenian Diaspora Research Center of the Haigazian University (Beirut, Lebanon) properly presented the 35th volume of the Haigazian Armenological Review. It was completely dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Centennial, the presentation of the volume was held recently in Yerevan. The speaker highlighted that the Haigazian Armenological Review has been issued punctually on a yearly basis in Beirut since 1991, by the Armenian Diaspora Research Center of the Haigazian University.

Andranik Tagesian referred to the establishment and 55-year history of the Haigazian University, particularly spoke about faculties and specialties, curricula and the language of studies, the cooperation with the higher educational establishments in Armenia and the Armenian Diaspora communities.

The meeting continued with questions and answers, and the participants put forward questions concerning latest developments from the conflict in Syria, the activities conducted by the Armenian community, cultural and educational life, immigration, preservation of Armenian national identity. The editor of the Haigazian Armenological Review gladly answered the questions of the audience and stressed the importance of deepening and strengthening relations with Armenians living in Georgia.
