Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanian, the Primet of Armenian Diocese in Georgia, visited St. Gregory the Illuminator’s Church in Akhaltsikhe on October 04, 2015, accompanied by Very Reverent Father Babgen Salibyan, Pastor of Samtske-Javakheti region and Very Reverent Father Khoren Hovhannisyan, Pastor of Kvemo-Kartli region.

The Primet highly appreciated Reverent Father Ghevond Topashyan's month long service in St. Gregory the Illuminator Church of Akhaltsikhe. Reverent Father Torgom Vardanyan, Pastor of Borjomi city as well as Balanta, Molit, Chikhurala, Tabatskhur villages of Bakurani region, held his prime liturgy, as delegated by the Primet, in the church, full of visitors. The Primet introduced the Pastor to local residents, as well as blessed and passed his good wishes to Father Torgom, briefing on his spiritual education and services. Father Torgom passed his appreciations and referred to His Holliness Garegin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of Armenians, thanks to whom new Pastors joined the Armenian Diocese of Georgia: Very Reverent Father Khoren Hovhannisyan and Reverent Father Torgom Vardanyan. The latter bowed to the Primet for blessing and ead a sermon on the sacrament of the day. A meeting with local Armenians followed in the church to discuss the challenges they face.

On the same day the Primet and his accompaniers visited Vahram Gayfechyan Art Union of Akhaltsikhe to participate in presentation of the “Self-defense of Akhaltsikhe Armenians in 1917-1918”, written by Lyuba Vardanyan, former principal of secondary school #3 after Hovhannes Tumanyan. Very Reverent Father Babgen Salibyan came up with a speech to show his appreciation on the book, he well noted the efforts of Mrs. Vardanyan aimed at passing to new generations facts about the heroism of Akhaltsikhe Armenians.
